Battle of the consoles
With the way technology is advancing today, there are tough decisions to make when provided with two “next generation” game consoles, the Xbox One and the PlayStation4. “Which one is better?” people may ask; well, look no further.
According to latinpost.com, these gaming systems have racked up $7.2 million in combined sales since their launch in the fall of 2013.
There’s no doubt that both systems are a step above past offerings. With eight GB of ram that make up their software, these systems basically act as computers.
The graphics on the PS4 is slightly better than the Xbox One. It can play games on 1080p while Xbox One can only play games in 720p.
“The graphics on these two systems are a little different. The PS4’s graphics are noticeably clearer and more realistic,” said Mark Phillips, an employee at target who works in the game department.
Both consoles are compatible with online play via Xbox Live and Play Station Network. An online subscription costs about $60 although PSN is known to give free things away online, while users have to pay for Microsoft Points in order to get things on Xbox Live.
While the PS4 is designed for true gamers, the Xbox One destroys it in the field of entertainment. The Xbox One connects to cable and gamers can play games while watching TV.
“It (The Xbox One) can basically act as an entertainment system with all its features. I would recommend the PS4 just because I think its game play is a little bit smoother,” said Lucas, an employee at a local GameStop.
Also, the Xbox One can recognize users by their faces, voices or simple hand motions through the Kinect system’s technology that comes with console. Gamers can simply walk in the room, say, “Xbox On,” and the Television will automatically turn on.
“If you’re a true gamer, I’d go with the PS4 all the way. They invest a lot of money in new developers and have no restrictions on games. If you want the entertainment aspect of a console, go with the Xbox One,” said senior Duong Do, an employee at Best Buy. Do has also been a gamer his whole life.
The PS4’s version of the Kinect comes separate. The Xbox One is $100 more expensive, because the Kinect system is included. The Xbox One is selling for $499.99 and the PS4s are selling for $399.99. They are sold almost anywhere where other game consoles are sold including stores like, Best Buy, GameStop, and Target.
